What is plagiarism?
Starting with the definition of Plagiarism we can say that “exactly copying the ideas of other and present them as you own”. Another definition is that copying someone’s work whether accidentally or willingly comes under the definition of Plagiarism. Plagiarism is an academic crime. It is consider as a cheating. It is a kind of stealing.
Explanation
Most of the people got confused with the concept of Plagiarism. It is not confusable. It is clear from the definition that copying other ideas. Now copying ideas can be of two ways.
- Copying ideas and showing them as their own
- Copying ideas and write them in your own words.
The second one is not copying ideas; rather, it is taking ideas and writing them down in your own words.
For example, here is the definition of a noun.
It has just one main definition which is “ a naming words”. When you write it the same, it comes under the concept of Plagiarism. But explaining and defining noun in a unique way, in your own creative words doesn’t came under the concept of Plagiarism. You can take idea but expressing it in your own way.
Why do people do Plagiarism?
People do Plagiarism generally for their own convenience. To save their time. Sometimes they don’t have any ideas about the topic, so they just copies the ideas. For example there is a research work you have to do. Than you got a shortage of time for that. Than you just copy some others ideas and show that as your own.
How to avoid Plagiarism?
There are many steps to avoid Plagiarism. Some of the few steps are given below.
Cite the Source
While adding a new idea, you must write cite the source where you have taken the idea, giving the full name if the source, the exact date it was published and any other complete detail which is necessary.
Include quotation
While you copy other words in your own writing, for example there is any sentence, just close that words in inverted commas, and show that as these are quoted and aren’t mine, you can avoid the Plagiarism.
Paraphrase
Paraphrasing is the best way to avoid Plagiarism. Paraphrasing is the taking of ideas and rewriting that in your own words but with extra care because it can go to Plagiarism if it is done incorrectly. Here, try to use synonyms and write different words from the text.
Present your own idea
Presenting your own ideas is the another best way to avoid plagiarism. You can just grab the idea and make your own concept about the topic and jot down your own ideas. Ask your self questions about the particular topic and see how much you are capable of writing.

When have no proper idea of how to do or you are not a creative person. It happens when you have language problem, you are making mistakes in writing the references or the original one is difficult one to be understood and many more.
Self Plagiarism
It is the type of Plagiarism when you repost or republish your own work again. You just add stuff from one of your previous article to make the new article lengthy
Mosaic Plagiarism
That type of Plagiarism happened when you copy someone writing in your own work but you fail to enclose it in inverted commas which means not giving credit to the original one. You make an attempt to change the words used without using synonyms.
